      It's nearly Christmas in the Wyoming Territory, but the holidays are looking pretty grim when the Chug Water mayor's family is brutally attacked and murdered. Duff MacCallister immediately sets out to capture the perpetrators and returns with two of them alive, brothers Jesse and T. Bob Cave. Meanwhile, Sally, Smoke, and Matt Jensen arrive in town to spend Christmas with Duff at his ranch, but it's not long before the Cave brothers have escaped. Then a diphtheria epidemic hits Chug Water. When the diphtheria medicine is hijacked, Duff will have to hunt down those nasty Cave brothers again and try to get the cure to the town--and his girlfriend Meagan--in time. VERDICT The Johnstones consistently write great Westerns, and last year's A Big Sky Christmas was particularly good. However, with the relentless barrage of terrible events in the story line, read this one for the action, not the Christmas cheer.
