Edwards, former cohost of HGTV's Design on a Dime, is the latest HGTV personality (after Sabrina Soto's Sabrina Soto Home Design and Cortney and Robert Novogratz's Home by Novogratz) to write about decorating. She provides design guidance for every room of the house, including dining rooms, kitchens, kids rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, and living rooms. The "recipes" provided by Edwards for more than 70 projects are more suggestions of things to do to achieve a particular look than actual step-by-step instructions. VERDICT With close to 300 color photographs of sophisticated interiors, experienced do-it-yourselfers will find an abundance of decorating ideas here.

In a world where good-guy werewolves are persecuted by vicious Catholics, police captain Anthony Mace, banished to an administrative job after the Manhattan Werewolf case (described in 2010’s The Frenzy Way), finds his experience suddenly in demand when a team of assassins arrives in New York City to destroy a peaceful local werewolf pack. Sanctioned by a secret Vatican faction and armed with everything from silver swords to military ordnance, the Brotherhood of Torquemada opens its war by kidnapping teenage Wolf Rhonda Wilson and murdering another young Wolf. As more Wolves are slaughtered and alpha Gabriel Domini’s control over his pack is threatened, Mace and a secret team of police detectives and FBI agents must stop the Torquemadans while hiding the Wolves’ existence from the public. Despite paper-thin characterization, the brisk action and lurid scenes of death and dismemberment produce a lively page-turner with an unusually balanced approach to its monsters, unexpected in a tale that’s equal parts police procedural and blood-drenched horror.

Tony Mace, the homicide cop who in The Frenzy Way (2010) exposed the existence of werewolves in New York City, has been reassigned to the low-profile K-9 unit. His bosses are doing serious damage control to keep the truth about the not-so-mythicaland, it should be noted, mostly peacefulcreatures from getting out. But someone is killing werewolves, and Tony is drawn back into a hidden war he thought he'd left behind and finds himself pitted against his most fiendish foe yet, the ancient society of assassins, the Brotherhood of Torquemada. This is a very exciting mixture of crime novel, horror, and fantasy. Lamberson approaches werewolves from an interesting angle (they're the victims here, not the villains), and the action is appropriately grisly, but he doesn't lose the element of humor that made the first novel in the series so successful.
